SIGN LANGUAGE NOW CLOSER TO PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT

In a move to understand the hearing impaired and their disability, Dr Audrey van Zyl, Minister for Constitutional Affairs and Information Technology has been learning how to use sign language.

Minister Van Zyl said that learning sign language has helped her understand the difficulties that people with disabilities are confronted with.

Dr Van Zyl will visit DEAFSA tomorrow at their offices in Newlands and attend an interactive class for sign language.

This visit is the start of many to centres and institutions working with the disabled in the Province. The next step will be to ensure that Provincial Administration, private and public buildings and facilities are accessible to the disabled.
