CITY
OF CAPE TOWN ANNOUNCES SMALL BUSINESS WEEK 2002
The
City of Cape Town, in partnership with the Western Cape Provincial
Administration, Wesgro and First National Bank, will be hosting Small Business
Week 2002 (SBW 2002) from 18 to 22 November 2002.
“The
aim is to highlight the important role small business plays in the city and
provincial economy and to bridge the gap between this sector and the formal
business sector. It also aims to
provide opportunities for sustainable job creation and economic growth, as well
as to promote public and private sector partnerships. In addition, it will
provide practical benefits, procurement opportunities and venture capital for
small business and celebrate small business and service provider success
stories,” said the City of Cape Town’s, Executive Committee member
responsible for Economic Development, Tourism and Property Management,Cllr Kent
Morkel.
This
will be achieved by

demonstrating
the City of Cape Town's support and commitment
¨
hosting
an exhibition of services provided by various organisations
¨
highlighting
hands-on procurement opportunities
Cllr
Morkel added, “Our target audience for Small Business Week 2002 is the
unemployed and small, medium and micro enterprises.
The event is also targeted at big business, labour, tertiary
institutions, government officials, the youth, women and the disabled.
“We
will be offering practical business workshops on drawing up business plans,
marketing, basic financial management, sourcing and using start-up money, to
name but a few.”
