NEWSFLASH
20 February 2001
Every
household and family in the Metro area is affected by the burning issue of the
times – the provision of free basic water and electricity.
To
ensure that this beneficial service is fully understood and delivered with
equity and efficiency, the City of Cape Town has embarked on a process of
workshopping the policy, the objectives and implementation procedures.
But
it is also vitally important that all consumers are accurately informed.
Tomorrow
councillors will attend a workshop at which all these issues will be discussed.
The
provision of free basic services is high on the scale of public interest and the
news media are invited to attend a news conference at which important
information will be disseminated by Cllr David Erleigh (Executive Committee
member responsible for City Infrastructure) and Mike Marsden (Interim Services
Co-ordinator).
