LOCAL ECONOMY GETS OVER R200 MILLION BOOST FROM MAJOR EVENTS

Over R200 million is spent annually by cyclists and their support teams in Cape Town during the Cape Argus Pick ‘n Pay Cycle Tour. Yachting teams spend a further R5 million during the Cape Town stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race.

A socio-economic impact study, commissioned by the City of Cape Town’s Events Office highlights Cape Town’s potential for creating a unique platform for major events with huge financial benefits for the local economy.
