The City of Cape Town has approved an additional R251 000 for the completion of the R3,13 million Delft Community Hall (The Hague).

“We want to ensure that the Delft Community get an excellent product that they can use to improve their enjoyment and quality of life,” said the City of Cape Town’s Executive Councillor for Economic Development, Tourism and Property Management, Councillor Kent Morkel.

“A modern community hall in the previously disadvantaged area of Delft is a priority for my colleagues and I,” he said. “It is a community focal point for networking and economic and social development, and also provides leisure and other facilities that are much needed in the area.”

On 5 March this year, the City of Cape Town awarded the construction contract to Skyview Builders and increased the estimated contract value to R3 134 000.

“We are pushing ahead with our commitment to improve the lot of the poorer communities,” said Councillor Morkel. “Community facilities allied to job creation projects and support for local entrepreneurs and small business are essential to uplift our people, and are an integral part of our vision to make Cape Town a world-class city.”
